My latest project with the flakes is to laminate them with 5 mil laminate sheets. I've found that this keeps them flat, and well-preserved, clearly. I can also create 'floppier' flake designs which are frozen into position (as most true snowflakes are). And as shown here, I can make 'flakollages,' not being worried about overlaps or slippage.  The colors and positions allow for a sense of depth which might add a little interest.

The gold and blue design below was a gift to a popular orthopedic physician at Duke on my floor. See if you can see the '50' from one side; and, using the 'O' of 50, 'Dr. O' from the other side. Fun, huh? That's the idea.
